1-on-1 Private Football Training in Houston
If you play receiver, defensive back, or running back and you want to get better faster, working one-on-one gets you there quicker than sitting in a group of thirty. That's the whole idea behind private football training at KAS Elite Training in Houston. You and Coach David Smith, no crowd, every rep coached.
Coach Smith played professional arena football and won a 2010 AIFA championship. He trains the way the position is actually played at speed, not the watered-down version you get from cone drills that don't carry over to Friday night.
How a 1-on-1 session actually runs
Every session is built around your position and where your game is right now. Here's the general flow, though we adjust based on what you need that day.
- Warm-up and movement prep. We get your hips, ankles, and lower body ready so you can move clean and stay healthy.
- Position fundamentals. This is the technical work: footwork, hand placement, hip transition, whatever your position lives and dies on.
- Game-speed reps. We take the fundamentals and run them at full tempo, because that's the only place they count.
- Feedback and adjustment. You get corrected in real time. No guessing about what you did wrong on film later.
Because it's just you, there's no standing in line. You get more touches in an hour than you'd get in a week of team practice.
What each position works on
Wide receivers
Release off the line against press, stem and separation at the top of routes, catching away from your frame, and tracking the deep ball. We clean up the little things that turn open into contested.
Defensive backs
Backpedal and hip flip, staying on top of vertical routes, driving on the ball, and playing the receiver's hands without grabbing. Confident coverage comes from footwork you don't have to think about.
Running backs
Footwork through the hole, pad level, cutting off the correct foot, ball security under contact, and pass protection basics. We build the vision and burst that make a back hard to bring down.
Who this is for
Most of the athletes here are high school players getting ready for the season or grinding through the offseason. Coach Smith also works with select youth players and next-level athletes by arrangement, so reach out and we'll talk about whether it's a good fit.
The goal is simple: make you better at your position at game speed. Everything we do points back to that.
Other ways to train
One-on-one isn't the only option. A few things to know:
- Group training is available for three or more athletes if you want to train with teammates.
- The 8-session development program is for players who want a plan instead of scattered workouts. We build on the same skills week to week so the progress sticks.
- All training is position-specific for WR, DB, and RB. We don't do generic conditioning classes.

Frequently asked questions
How long is a 1-on-1 session?
Sessions run about an hour. The exact time can flex a little depending on what we're working on that day, but you get focused, coached reps the whole time.
What positions do you train?
Wide receiver, defensive back, and running back. Every session is built specifically around what that position needs, not general athletic drills.
Do you only work with high school players?
High school athletes are the main focus, but Coach Smith also works with select youth players and next-level athletes by arrangement. Reach out and we'll talk about your situation.
What should I bring to my first session?
Cleats or trainers, water, and clothes you can move in. Come warmed up and ready to go at game speed.
Can I train with my teammates?
Yes. Group training is available for three or more athletes. If you'd rather have every rep coached individually, the 1-on-1 option is the way to go.
